The Moon Jazz House Band

The Moon Jazz Club was formed in Crediton in the early 2010's, by trumpeter Andrew Vaccari. The vision was to build a low-key club where performers of all abilities could come and hone their playing and improvisational skills – building confidence and ability in a friendly environment.

Eschewing the traditional “cutting session” competitive nature of Jazz Clubs from days gone by, the Moon Jazz soon gained a dedicated following, including the encouraging of young musicians from QE Academy in Crediton. With a leaning towards hard bop, latin & soul jazz, the club soon established itself as a popular session, with audience members making their way from all over Devon.

The Moon Jazz House Band was assembled from some of the best musicians in the area – the current lineup is:

Alastair Toms  Guitar/Bass
Tony Plato  Drums
Johnny Monument  Keys
Hayley Gregory  Alto/Soprano Sax
Stuart Toms  Guitar
Duncan Hook  Tenor Sax
Marcus Vergette  Bass
Jess Laver  Vocals

During the COVID pandemic, the venue in Crediton that hosted the club closed down, so the club now runs at the 3 Little Pigs Pub, still in Crediton. Also during this time, Andrew Vaccari stepped down as bandleader, so these duties are now shared between Stuart Toms and his son, Alastair.
